Story

A woman is running away from three men. She runs into an alley that comes to a tall chain link fence. It is a dead end. Two of the men grab her arms, while one slowly approaches with a knife.

Then something drops down from above right behind him. He turns around and they all look at what is slowly standing up. We see Xibalba standing tall as to confront the men. The leader tries to quickly stab him, but Xibalba catches him by the wrist, snaps his arm, takes the knife, and lodges it into his skull. The other two look incredibly nervous, but before they have a chance to either fight or run away, Xibalba takes out his pistols and shoots each one of them in the head.

The woman, scared and confused, sits against the wall and stares up at Xibalba. He looks down at her  and reaches out his hand to help her up. She puts her hand on his cheek.

For a moment it seems all is well.

Then we see something appear behind Xibalba. We see Seite (a zombie-like demigod who can regenerate dead material, cannibalize corpses, and wears the mask Antonio wore the night he was murdered) looming at the end of the ally way. Holding his trademark nailbat. Xibalba immediately starts shooting at Seite, but the creature still stands after being shot multiple times. The creature merely ignores the bullets and starts running towards Xibalba. Xibalba throws the guns aside and takes out his machete and quickly dodges the first swing of the nail bat. He then takes a swing at Seite with the machete, but Seite blocks it with the bat and knocks the machete out of Xibalba's hand. He continues to swing his bat at Xibalba who tries not to get hit. Xibalba lands in a few punches and kicks, but they do nothing to Seite. Seite finally delivers a devastating blow to Xibalba's face and breaks off his hat goes flying off. Seite then strikes his face again, and Xibalba's mask breaks off. Xibalba falls back with his face revealed, half covered in blood.

Seite stands over Xibalba, raises the bat over his head to bring down the final blow, and then suddenly his arm is chopped off. We see the woman holding the machete behind him. Seite then turns to her. He lunges at her and she stabs him through the chest. He then grabs her by the neck, raises her up, and throws her against the wall. He pulls out the machete from his chest and marches towards her. He winds back the machete to attack her, and then suddenly his head has the nailbat bashed into his skull. We see Xibalba behind him holding the bat. He lets it go and grabs Seite by the arm holding the machete, and he rips it off. Seite falls to his knees. Xibalba then chops off his head, and his body falls over.

Xibalba turns to the woman and walks over to her. He discovers that she is dead. He picks her up, looks up to the skies, and walks out of the scene.

As he walks away from Seite's mutilated head, Seite's eyes look straight at the audience.

Story #2:

A woman is running away from three men. She runs into an alley that comes to a tall chain link fence. It is a dead end. Two of the men grab her arms, while one slowly approaches with a knife.

Then something drops down from above right behind him. He turns around and they all look at what is slowly standing up. We see Xibalba standing tall as to confront the men. The leader tries to quickly stab him, but Xibalba catches him by the wrist, snaps his arm, takes the knife, and lodges it into his skull. Thug number 2 grabs a bat and charges at Xibalba. He takes a swing to Xibalba's face, his hat and mask go flying off. He slowly turns back into position with a drop of blood running down his forehead and a stern look in his eyes. He pulls out his machete. Thug number 2 then tries to swing at him again, but Xibalba catches it and stabs thug number 2 through his chest. He then retracts the machete and slices off the head of thug number 3.

The woman, scared and confused, sits against the wall and stares up at Xibalba. He looks down at her and reaches out his hand to help her up. She puts her hand on his cheek.

As she looks over his shoulder, she sees thug number 2 aiming a gun towards Xibalba's back. She pushes him out of the way and gets shot. Xibalba then kicks the gun out of the thug's hand and takes his machete to split his head in half.

Xibalba turns to the woman and walks over to her. He discovers that she is dead. He picks her up, looks up to the skies, and walks out of the scene.

Character Development

Backstory:

Antonio Corral grew up in a small village in Southern Mexico, where drug lords were having a giant turf war spreading throughout the southern part of the hemisphere and traveling north. His mother and grandmother were devout Catholics and he spent much of his childhood learning the teachings of Jesus Christ, Heaven and Salvation.

On the Day of the Dead, Antonio went with his father and brother to the Dia De Los Muertos festival and wore a paper mache skull mask and brown cloak. As his town came to visit the cemetery to give offerings to their ancestors, a large gang of criminals broke their way into the homes of the villagers to steal their goods and spill blood in order to gain the favor of Santa Muerte (the personification of death as a woman who is associated with healing, protection, and dark miracles). Upon returning to his grandmother's house, the criminals brutally murdered his family. Helpless to save any of them, he witnessed his father get beheaded with a machete, his sister and mother raped and stabbed, his brother gunned down, and his grandmother die with a Rosary in her hand. Antonio was shot in the heart with one of his father's revolvers.

Upon his death, he was met with Miclan, the Aztec god of the Underworld. Miclan offered him a chance to live again and become stronger and faster than any man. In exchange, Antonio would pledge his allegiance to Miclan and offer him the souls of wicked men as a tribute to the Realm of the Dead. However, this would also condemn his own soul to be bound to the Underworld in both life and death, thus forever giving up a chance for salvation.

Antonio wears a wide brim black hat, heavy black body armor, a tattered brown poncho (the cloak from the night he died), and a new skull mask given to him by Miclan as a symbol of fear and death. Therefore, he was henceforth known as Xibalba (a mesoamerican word meaning "place of fear and death").

Xibalba found the gang that killed his family in a warehouse near a cocaine farm. In their hideout, he recovered his fathers twin revolvers and his brothers machete (stolen and used to decapitate his father). He kills all the gang members as both a tribute to his new master, and to avenge his family. He then retrieves his grandmothers rosary and wears it to honor her.

He travels throughout all of Mexico and the Americas for violent gang members, drug dealers, rapists, murderers, and anyone he deems to have a wicked soul.

Toll booth scenario:

Xibalba is driving a car and is stopped at a tollbooth. It comes as no surprise that he does not have any money. Seeing as how he has no actual job and has no need for money (supernatural stamina makes it so he does not need food or rest). A line begins to form behind him and he can hear people in the back honking and cursing at him. As a result, he gets out of the car. Slowly. He turns around and stares at the car directly behind him. He walks towards the window and sees a mother and her two children. She looks up at him in fear and her children begin to cry. He continues to walk to the next car. The people sitting in this car are a husband and wife, both senior citizens and have a handicapped parking pass dangling in the windshield. He continues to move on. The next car has the one individual who was clearly being aggressive. He had tattoos running up his arms and neck, plugs in his ears, and was accompanied by a scantily dressed woman with bloodshot eyes and stained teeth. The man stares at him for a moment. He then quickly reaches for his glove compartment, and Xibalba does not give him a chance to take out whatever is in there. He punches through the car window, grabs the man by his shirt collar, and pulls him up to see him eye to eye. He then whispers, "Toll booth. Fee. Now." The man quickly takes out his wallet and hands it to Xibalba who then drops him. Xibalba walks back to his car, pays the fee, throws the wallet out of the window, and drives on.

The Seven Faces of Evil

Seven gifts given to man by angels become corrupt and turn into evil gods called The Seven Faces of Evil. The only way to stop these beings was to separate their faces from their bodies. The faces turned into masks of great power, and their bodies turned into trees that were banished to seven realms in the netherworld.

Long ago when the era of man had just begun, mighty angels came to Earth and saw that people were primitive and uncivilized. To help them, the angels gave the humans seven gifts of salvation. They gave them valor, to help them win wars and fight for justice. They gave them pleasure, to enjoy the riches of life. They gave them festivity, to have fun and be merry during times of peace. They gave them wealth, so they would always have what they needed. They gave them relaxation, so they wouldn't always have to work hard. They gave them admiration, so that those who did great things would be respected. And last, they gave them pride. So that they could learn to love themselves.
For many centuries, the humans lived in peace and worshipped the angels with their prayers. The prayers were the life source of the angels, and they needed them to survive. Thus, the symbiotic nature between man and angel grew.
But as time went on, the humans learned of one thing that would change them forever. Fear.
The humans knew the angels had great power. They began to fear the power of the angels. And in time, they began to want great power as well. Their fears and desires corrupted the gifts of salvation and turned them into the deadly sins. The sins became so strong, that they manifested into powerful creatures: The Seven Faces of Evil. Neither angel, nor man. Neither living, nor dead.
The first was Primos the Prideful. The love of one’s self turned to the hatred of all others. Primos believed he was better than man and angels alike. And that all should fear and worship him. He is adorned with five long black horns on his head with a crown of light inside of them. He is capable of flight, even without his large black wings. He uses them if only to mock the angels. He is able to summon thunderstorms to display his power.
From him he brought forth his brothers of darkness.
Avari the Greedy. The love of wealth became an obsession with money. Stealing, lying, and betrayal are his tools to get what he wants. Avari loves to wear gold. And uses gold and gems against his enemies. He enjoys spewing molten gold upon them so they burn and turn into statues that display the pain of their final moments. He can make it rain blood rubies and turn his skin into gold to increase his resilience. His Midas touch condemns his victims to slowly turn into statues, losing the ability to use what part of their bodies he touches.
Gulo the Glutton. The love of festivities make Gulo endlessly hungry and thirsty. He will consume everything around him, even if it means others must starve. He holds the power of the Cerberus within his body. A three headed beast that violently consumes everything laid before it. He can open portals that let the beast seep through into our world. His body is incredibly fat and gel like, allowing him to absorb blows easily. He is able to release a swarm of locusts from his mouth, another means to consume everything.
Lecher the Lustful. The love of pleasure makes Lecher enjoy himself even if it hurts others. And hurting others is something that gives him pleasure. He is able to create black vines from his body that emit red thorns. These vines then become roses that shoot a deadly pollen. The roses then emit the heads of serpents with venomous fangs. When a head is decapitated, two more take its place. This creature is the Rose Hydra.
Soco the Sloth. The love of relaxing turned into the neglect of others. Soco despises helping others and is disgusted by friendships and matters of the heart. He enjoys making people sick with plagues. He spews black sludge onto his enemies to make them sickly and weak. He is able to summon swarms of rats to strip the flesh off his enemies and infect them. His hundreds of ravens descend from grey skies to viciously claw and peck at his victims.
Invidius the Envious. Admiration of another’s gifts perverted into jealousy. The only one of his brothers who has a third eye, he can see the desires of others. He has the ability to see what his brothers see and deliver their visions to each other. Invidius enjoys using spiders he hides inside his body to spy on his enemies, as well as use them to sew shut the eyes of his victims. He can spin a web from within his throat and snare his enemies. He can also grow giant needle-like spider limbs to impale his victims.
Ira the Wrathful. Valor turned into wrath. Void of a sense of justice or peace, Ira is filled with intense rage. It is rumored that he is incapable of reason and rational thinking, all he knows is destruction and violence. Ira can emit burning rage from his body, resulting in apocalyptic meteors and fiery tornadoes to destroy all around him. His violent bloodlust is so great, that he will endure immense pain and damage to himself in order to kill his target.
These seven evils tore down all monuments and cities that the angels brought to the earth. They fed off the fears and desires of man, and knew that it was through prayer that gave the angels eternal life. As a result, the Faces demanded that the people fear and pray to them in order to starve the angels and give them everlasting life. They would not stop until they, and they alone, enslaved mankind.
The problem with their rise to power was that each one wanted to rule on their own. They hated each other, yet they were a part of each other. Each one fueled by fear and desire, each one incapable of killing another permanently. Their greatest power was also their greatest weakness, in that none of them could kill each other. However, since they came from Primos, he was recognized as their leader. But only one did not see it that way.
The Faces had an understanding. They could not kill each other, nor could they wipe out the humans. They were beings that came from the fears and wants that laid deep within man’s own heart, and needed the fear of the humans in order to survive. But Ira could not comprehend such a thing. He tried to kill all. He tried to destroy all. Including his own brothers. He threatened not only his own existence, but theirs as well.
Because of his brutality and destructive ways, the people fed Ira their fear more than any other Evil, increasing his power. Primos and the other Faces took notice on his overindulgence, and devised a plan to stop him before he obliterated everything. A great battle between them ensued, shaking the heavens and the earth. With no clear victor in sight, it seemed as though they would only feed Ira’s anger and their battle would destroy the very world they wished to rule. Their only hope was to bind Ira and strip him of his power. He was bound with Primos’s chains of oppression, Lecher’s thorny vines, and Invidius’s webbing. He was weakened with Soco’s Plague and Avari’s Midas touch. And his flames were consumed by Gulo and the Cerberus. With all their combined power, Primos was finally able to rip off Ira’s face and rob him of his power. His body, void of the evils it once inhabited, turned into a tree.
The six remaining Faces then set out to rule the world, until they realized that the battle had drained their powers severely since Ira had fed off of the most fear. The angels heard the prayers of the people, watched how Ira was defeated, and set out to do the same to the remaining Evils. Their faces, turned to masks, house all their wicked powers and all but Ira’s were locked in the underworld. Ira’s mask is still yet to be found.

In order to keep The Seven Faces of Evil from returning to their bodies, the masks and trees must be separated. The trees binds their life force, while the masks binds their power. The underworld was then divided into 7 circles, one inside another.
The first circle was Gula, what seems to be an endless dark cave and in it sleeps Gulo’s tree. It is guarded by the very Cerberus that was locked inside of Gulo’s dark magic, completely unaware that it guards its own master’s body.
Beneath its roots leads to the next circle, Luxuria, home of Lecher’s tree. Amongst an ocean of black vines and red thorns, Lecher’s tree is hidden amongst them. Also amongst the vines is the Rose Hydra, awaiting to poison anyone who goes near.
Beneath the roots of the tree leads to Avaritia, where Avari’s tree lies. The tree is among an infinite room of riches and gold. Anyone who dares to touch the treasure around them will instantly feel it melt in their hands and beneath their feet until they are consumed by the molten metal.
Beneath its roots leads to Socoria, home to Soco’s tree. A giant boggy swamp in an endless night, one will either be consumed by the rats on the ground or the ravens in the sky. The black water is the only thing to drink, but causes madness to those who do.
Beneath its roots leads to Invidius, for who’s tree it is named. The tree is suspended above the ground and held upside down by the webs of millions of spiders. A single spider has a body consisting of one eye with legs growing from it, and will attempt to sew shut the eyes of anyone who goes near.
Within its roots leads to the land of Ira. A vast burning wasteland with fiery whirlwinds and rain of brimstone. Ira’s tree is locked here, and beneath its roots leads to the final circle: Superbia.

Home of Primos’s tree, Superbia is a frozen endless mountain range. Among the highest mountain is a chest guarded by a horned beast. Within the chest are 6 of the masks, and when worn will grant the wearer great power. The cost of which is losing yourself to its evil magic.
